She was raised in San Francisco by her parents Ann and Warren Stevens and alongside her sister Leonore Stevens Wooldridge. After graduating from George Washington High School in 1943, she married Edward Patrick Cahill in 1945. They lived in San Mateo, CA and Reno, NV for brief periods before settling in Walnut Creek, CA. Her final years were spent living near family in The Woodlands, TX.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Ann and Warren Stevens, her sisters Shirley Stevens and Leonore Stevens Wooldridge, her husband Edward Patrick Cahill and grandson Kevin Patrick Cahill.
Dorothy worked for the Internal Revenue Service for many years in Taxpayer Services and was always proud of her career at the IRS. Dorothy faced life’s challenges with grit and determination. She was tenacious. She embraced every new chapter with the same love of life.
Dorothy is survived by her three children; Colleen Marie Cahill, Patrick Stephen Cahill, and Daniel Edward Cahill. She enjoyed travel, playing board games and dancing. Her ultimate joy was her grandchildren: Sean Martinez, Brenna (Martinez) Marvin, Caitlin (Cahill) Chapman, Connor Cahill, Bailey Cahill, Emma Cahill and Brian Cahill and great grandchildren: Savannah Martinez, Mackinsey Martinez, Hunter Martinez, Ella Chapman, Henry Chapman and Mason Marvin.
It was a pleasure to watch her, surrounded by family, as that was what made her happiest. Fortunately, she was able to go on one last adventure in July 2021 and take her entire family on a cruise to the Bahamas. It was a vacation that all of her family will long remember. Dorothy was beaming with pride the entire vacation. The mention of that experience always brought a smile to her face.
I know that she accomplished everything that she ever wanted to in her life and passes from this world with the peace that comes from a life that was fully and well lived. Dorothy Francis Cahill will be missed and fondly remembered by her family and her friends.
God speed mom…
