Billie Marie (MawMaw) O’Neal went to be with our Lord on September 1, 2020, at the age of 89. She was born on May 6, 1931, in Goodrich, Texas to Jake and Edna May Walding. Billie married the love of her life, Joe, on September 4, 1949, and they will get to spend their 71st wedding anniversary together for the first time in 16 years.
Anyone whoever met Billie knew her proudest accomplishment was her family. Her strength, resilience, and devotion were the heart and soul of the “O’Neal Pack” and one didn’t have to be blood to be considered a member. She was never afraid to tell it like it is but that open honesty, as well as her warmth and humor, drew people to her and made everyone around her feel like they belonged. Her favorite thing in life was being surrounded by the family she and Joe built, and the feeling was mutual.
The legacy she created will live on in many future generations because of the sense of purpose and belonging she instilled in all of us. She was a dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who left a lasting impression on all our hearts.
Billie is survived by a family who will miss her always including son Keith and wife Kathie, son Larry and wife Becky, daughter Patty and partner/adopted daughter Becky Dalby, four grandchildren: Brent and wife Misty, Brad and wife Melissa, Lindsey and husband Chad Blancett, Mitch and wife Sierra, granddaughter-in-law: Jennifer, seven great-grandchildren: Blake, Bryson, Jacob, Lundyn, Mason, Mattox and Hayden. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, parents Jake and Edna May, sister Claudine and grandson Matthew.
Due to attendance restrictions, the visitation and service will be limited to invitation only. For those unable to attend in person there will be a live web stream of the funeral services which will be held at 10 a.m., September 9, 2020.
