Betty June Smith

BETTY JUNE SMITH age 79 of The Woodlands, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2011. Betty was born in Winters, TX on March 16, 1932 as one of 11 children. She graduated from Winters High in 1949 and was elected to Who’s Who in America. Her classmates also voted her “Most Popular” and “Most Witty.” She attended Odessa Business College and worked as a Secretary in Oil & Gas and the legal profession for 37 years. She was employed by Shell Oil where she met her husband, Ralph and they were married in 1955. She attended Sunday school and church for 22 years straight without missing a day. She was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and very active in Women’s Ministries. Betty also enjoyed cooking, shopping, singing, dancing, bridge, freelance writing, and spending time with her twin granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Nathan Smith; her brothers, Ray and George Wilson; her sisters, Kathleen Taff, Elaine Chapman and Nina Jones.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph Smith; her daughter, Stephanie Schoppe and her husband James; granddaughters, Jennifer and Christine; her sisters, Frances Bolotin, Jody Sweatmon and Claydene Harman along with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is loved and will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 23 at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77380. Graveside services will be Thursday, March 24 at 3:00 PM in Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland, Texas.
