Ben married Virginia Kirk on April 23, 1960, two months later he was drafted in the Army. After his two years of military service, Ben and Virginia returned to Houston, Texas.
He returned to his career with the railroad for Houston Belt and Terminal for 15 years until his on the job accident. Ben let a coworker leave early and while climbing a ladder to the engine, the step collapsed throwing Ben under the train severing his spine and paralyzing him from chest down.
Ben was more active in his life than most people who can walk. He spent his time, raising and loving his family, gardening, reading, fishing and hanging out at the lake house with family and friends.
He was an example of INTEGRITY, HONESTY, DETERMINATION and LOVE.
Ben lived for his family and will live forever in our hearts.
