Anne Hubbert Holloway passed away on August 17th, 2020, after 98 years of life and love. She was born on December 2nd, 1921, in Mineral, Texas, a small town close to the family home in Sandia, Texas. It was a hard life on the family farm, and when asked about her childhood, she would recount picking cucumbers in 100-degree heat and eating pinto beans for almost every meal.
Anne graduated high school and left the farm to attend Corpus Christi Business College, then worked at National Life and Insurance Company for $15 a week.
She married at 18, and her first husband was soon drafted in WWII. They were blessed with two children, Patricia Ann and James Michael. She worked in a factory in California to support the war effort for a time.
After what she recalls as some of the most difficult years of her life, she met Boyce Holloway on October 28th, 1955. They attended a Baylor University football game together, and were married just a few months later, on December 30th.
Together they had Mary Gail and Pamela Elizabeth. She was by his side through moves to San Antonio, New Orleans, Bel Air, West University, and finally The Woodlands, as she supported him throughout his career as a Police Officer.
Anne was a devoted wife and mother. When asked what made her the happiest and most proud in life, she stated her 50-years of marriage to Bo, and the birth of her four wonderful grandchildren, Michael, Lindsey, Lauren, and Lance.
She was a devout Catholic, attending weekly mass at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in The Woodlands for 18 years. She prayed the Rosary daily, and drew much comfort from her faith.
Anne was generous, loving, funny, and kind. She never lacked opinions, and would tell you what was on her mind whether or not you were prepared to hear it. She endured many challenges in her life, and yet managed to meet change with grace and acceptance.
When asked how she hoped to be remembered, she said simply, "with love." She was the heart of our family, and her love and lessons surround us in comfort, even as we miss her dearly.
