John V. Hansen (Jay), 75, of The Villages, passed away on August 22, 2018. Jay was born in New Brunswick, NJ on May 26, 1943. He graduated from Metuchen High School in New Jersey. Jay was a police officer in Cranbury Township, NJ for 39 years where he worked his way from Patrolman to Chief of Police without ever taking a sick day. He was also the owner and operator of J & S Lawn Service. Jay served in the Air Force, was an Eagle Scout and later Scout Master of Troop #52. He enjoyed cycling and golfing. Jay was a member of FOP Lodge #58, Apollo Lodge #41, Middlesex County Chief of Police Assn, NJ State Chief of Police Assn, and FBI-LEEDA. Jay is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Hansen; son, Scott (Marissa) Hansen; daughter, Kim (Craig) Howie; brother, Kris (Lisa) Hansen; grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Kaitlyn Howie and Sam Hansen. He is preceded in death by parents, John and Margaretta "Gretta" Hansen. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Parish in Belleview, FL on Friday August 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 20th at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, 22 S Main St, Cranbury, NJ. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Marion County Hospice or Alzheimer's Assn.
