WWII Navy veteran. Worked for Nekoosa Edwards, Federal Compress and was owner of Intax. Member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Volunteered for the parish and Diocese of Tyler in various capacities. Tutored at Fifteenth St. Elementary. Served on the supervisory board of Domino Federal Credit Union.
He is preceded in death by parents Franklin McKinley DuPree, Beatrice (Jefferson) DuPree Gouchee, stepfather Howard Gouchee; three brothers, Kenneth, George and James and sister, Jacquelyn;
two grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dolores Therese Marie (Kempen) DuPree. Eleven children: Kathleen (Joe) Lucke, Franklin (Alisa) DuPree, Marjean DuPree, Cynthia DuPree, Daniel (Wendell) DuPree, Debra (Mark) Kennedy, Janeen (Gary) Steinheimer, Michelle (Steve-dec.) Childress, Rhonda (Bill) Turri, Denise (Robert-dec.) Hitt, Kevin (Victoria) DuPree, twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 13th at 12 Levi Jackson Road, Texarkana, Texas, from 3 – 8 PM. Visitation is at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, 6 – 8 PM. Rosary is at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 AM followed by the funeral mass with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown
