Dr. Reginald D. Stanley, 81, of Texarkana, TX passed away November 6, 2017 in a local hospice facility. Dr. Stanley was born January 21, 1936 in Paraguay, South American. He completed medical school in Paraguay, and moved to Michigan in 1965 to complete his surgical residency and lived there for 8 years. He relocated to New Boston, TX in 1973 and worked at New Boston General Hospital and Wadley Regional Medical Center. He was the Medical Director for Telford Unit State Prison for 22 years and was a retired general surgeon at Wadley Regional Medical Center, practicing for 20 years. Dr. Stanley was a member of American College of Surgeons and St. James Episcopal Church. He was an a volunteer for the Friendship Center and Randy Sams Shelter and the W.J. Running Ranch. He was and avid runner and his passion was soccer, which he coached for 10 years
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Stanley; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Miranda Stanley and Walter and Jenny Stanley; grandchildren, Joshua Stanley and Chloe Stanley; sister Perla Jara; and other family members in Paraguay, South America.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. James Episcopal Church with Father Douglas Anderson and Father David Thompson officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church; Friendship Center, Randy Sams Shelter or W. J. Running Ranch. Online tributes may be made at www.eastfuneralhomes.com.
