Marthene Baber

Marthene Baber, 83, of Texarkana, AR passed away February 12, 2012 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Baber was born November 28, 1928 in Genoa, AR to James and Eufaula Johnson. She was a member of Genoa Central Church of Christ; she had worked at Texarkana Gazette, Pinkerton Pharmacy, and Phiffer's Dress Shop.

Mrs. Baber was preceded in death by a grandson Daniel Blake Nicholson.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Walter Cooper Baber of Texarkana, AR; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Jerry Braley of Fouke, AR, and Denise and Danny Nicholson of Texarkana, AR; brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyce and Claudine Johnson of Texarkana, AR, Maxie and Carolyn Johnson of Texarkana, TX and Prentiss and Karen Johnson of Texarkana, AR; brother-in-law Earnest Baber of Crestview, FL. 4 grandsons, Jodie Gatlin of Texarkana, AR, Brett and Carmen Gatlin of Texarkana, TX, Shane and Rosie Gatlin of Nash, TX; and Andrew Nicholson of Texarkana, AR; 7 great grandchildren, Jarrod Simmons, Garrett Gatlin, Joseph Gatlin, Emily Gatlin, Grant Gatlin, Jordan Gatlin and Aiden Gatlin.

Services will be 3:30 p.m., February 15, 2012 at East Memorial Chapel - Downtown with Jerry Monholland officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the funeral home.
