He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 75 years, Lena Carnley, his mother, Mary Carnley Ashley and his father and stepmother, Gideon and Clemie Carnley. Also preceding him in death were his brothers Warren, Robert, Hugh and a sister Emma Bell . His son Fred Danny Burt also preceded him in death and a granddaughter Marissa Michelle Burt-Williams.
Mr. Carnley was a World War II Army Veteran and served honorably from December 6, 1944 until October 3o, 1946 in the Philippines . He was employed as a sheet metal worker when he was younger and loved to hunt and fish and work in his large family garden. He loved to share what the Lord prospered with to others.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn Gray of Queen City, Texas and Mary Jean and Pat Collins of Evansville, Indiana. Two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Linda Carnley of Atlanta, Texas and Vernon Carnley of Queen City, Texas. 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren and very special friends Annie and Quit and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 17th, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane .
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 18th, 2024 at Shady Dale Cemetery in Queen City, Texas with Rev. Timothy Collins officiating.
