Damon Dennis Norton, 64, of Texarkana, AR died Tuesday evening in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born August 10, 1949 to Damon and Clara (Mitts) Norton in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was raised in Texarkana, TX, and after serving in the U. S. Marine Corps, retired to Lebanon, MO.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyliss (Green) Norton of Lebanon, MO, his parents, and one sister, Dorothy Holland of Winston, Ore.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelby Branch of Texarkana, AR; six sisters, Faye Martin of Eureka Springs, AR, Betty Waggoner Vanderburg, Janice Jones, Peggy McKnight, Linda Ross and Damona Bryant, all of Texarkana. He is also survived by three brothers, Bobby Norton of Medicine Park, OK, Billy Norton and David (Joe) Norton, of Texarkana, 3 grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014 at East Memorial Chapel – Downtown. Burial will be in Genoa Central Church of Christ Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home – Downtown.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
