Janice Lynn Gipson Martin passed away June 14, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Jan was born January 29, 1947 to Charles and Nina Ruth (Wooldridge) Gipson, both of whom preceded her in death along with her beloved husband, John Martin in 2004, her brothers: Kenneth Ray and Charles Weldon Gipson. A woman who never was one to sit idly by, Jan stayed active with her employment as a payroll coordinator as well as being a caretaker to so many who depended on her generous and loving personality including her parents as their health began to decline. Putting her needs behind the needs of others was a hallmark of Jan’s character and the selfless giving of her time and effort was always very well known as she gave of herself to her precious daughters and then later, her treasured grandchildren. Jan made sure that Sherry and Traci were always provided for by making sure their needs were met as well as their wants. Never a day went by that the girls didn’t know how much they were loved even into adulthood when Jan would lovingly give them advice and guidance on raising their own children. A strong, loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and friend, Jan will leave a legacy of unconditional love that her family will continue to carry on in their own lives. Jan leaves to celebrate her memory her daughters: Sherry Baker and husband, Paul, of Gun Barrell City, Traci Haney and husband, Greg, of Oak Leaf, Tx; grandchildren: Amanda Hammel and husband, Preston, Jillian Anderson, Clayton Haney, and Ryan Baker; great grandchildren: Kayden Cowen and Jaxon Hammel as well as a host of extended family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special word of gratitude to Jan’s caregivers: Donna Martin and Sam Maddox for their love and care. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Tuesday, June 16, at the funeral home. Condolences and stories may be shared with the family at www.andersonclaytonterrell.com.
