Clara Jo Clayton, 95, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2016 in Dallas, TX. Clara Jo was born to Glen and Irene Ables on May 2, 1920 in Terrell, TX. Jo was married to the love of her life, Bill Clayton, for 41 years. Jo worked hard through her life for Southwestern Bell, several years at the American National Bank and 25 years at the funeral home serving the families of Terrell. She had an upbeat personality and loved to laugh. Jo had a passion for all sports. She played basketball in high school and college and as she got older continued to keep up with her favorite teams. She could also be seen reading a book or sitting at her table drinking a cup of coffee and working through crossword puzzles. She would say she knew how her day would go depending on the crossword puzzle she was working on. She was a great cook and was well known for her rum cakes. Nanny’s greatest blessings were her grandkids and loved them with all of her heart. Jo was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Terrell, TX. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters, one brother and her grandson, Brad Barrow. Those left to cherish her memories are: children Ann Barrow and husband JW and Andy Clayton and wife Doris; grandchildren Kyle Barrow, Emily Clayton, Alex Clayton and Lesley Clayton; her great grandchildren Haley Burrow, Taylor Barrow and Rhiannon Clayton; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff and residents of the Colonial Lodge Assisted Living Center.
