Sharon Rose Stewart Byers

Sharon Rose (Stewart) Byers, 74, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Union Hospital. She was born on June 2, 1938, in Terre Haute to Harold and Francis (Smith) Stewart. She graduated Garfield High School in 1956. She worked at ISU and later ran a daycare center in her home where she cared for and loved many children. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Laureate Gamma Eta. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Rick; their children, Shelly Pettyjohn and her husband Lance of Avon, and Rick Byers and his wife Melissa of St. Louis; grandchildren, Danyale Short, Meg Pettyjohn, Jacob Pettyjohn, Seth Pettyjohn, Isabella Byers and Elijah Byers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wife, Mom, and Mimi will be remembered for her caring nature and love for her family. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday, June 15 at Roselawn Funeral Home with a Beta Sigma Phi ritual taking place at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Byers officiating.
