Obituary of Louis David Hooker
Louis David Hooker, 69, known by many other names, such as Dave, David, Louie, Louie D, Hook, Hooker left his human body and was restored to health and happiness on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. He was born July 6, 1955 and was the beloved son of Beverly and Robert Hooker; brother of Barbara, Sarah and Debbie; Grandpa to Joey, Gage, Lucas, Zachary, Randilynn, Jace and Hannah; Uncle to Rob, Brent, Matt, Jason, and Jeremy and friend to many. Most importantly to him though he was the father to Rachell, Jenilee and Bobbie. Anyone who knew Dad could tell you that he sacrificed his entire life for us; likely never re-marrying because of the complicated situation it would have created in parenting us. Dad faced many many challenges in his life including being hit by a car when he was 6, 2 types of Cancer, a semi-truck accident and several chronic illnesses. He was a survivor! His biggest accomplishment though was raising 3 beautiful daughters and I get to say that because I am one of them. He is the man that built us and made us who we are. He showed us stability, love and a life of happiness and adventures. Our childhood, although not paved in gold, was filled with wonderful memories of vacations to Florida staying in what we now realize were questionable roadside motels, trips to the Smokey Mountains and yearly adventures to Kings Island. He was not a man of many words and rarely said he loved us but we felt it. We felt it every time he helped us with a project or built a house because we wanted to move home. We felt it when he was doing all the things a dad is known to do like fix our car or repair our house. We even felt it when he made unannounced and uninvited appearances in our delivery rooms! When you remember our Dad we want you to remember the Dave Hooker that lived. He was full of life; a true child of the 60s and 70s. He loved Classic Rock music and enjoyed attending concerts with his daughters. He also enjoyed camping and got to spend a couple of years with his grandchildren at their ATV races before selling his camper. He loved to travel and went to the beach as often as he could still staying in those same questionable roadside motels. He was a dedicated grandpa who would give anything for the happiness of his grandchildren. They may not have realized it because he didn’t say it but he loved them dearly. So when you think of our Dad smile and remember all of the life he lived. Remember him in his healthiest and happiest years and the love he gave and the good times you shared. Trust that we will see his smiling face again one day when we enter the gates of Heaven.
