Lora Flora Ross, 75, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 11, 1939, in Sullivan, to the late Mervin and Mary (Keller) Daugherty. She married Lewis Ross, Sr. on August 28, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Ross, grandson, Danny Ross, brothers Duane, Ralph and Mervin Luther Daugherty, a sister Beatrice Anna Pittsley, and her beloved dog, Lucy.
Lora is survived by her children: Rae Ann Parsons and husband James, Mary Ross, Pam Steward and husband Joseph, Kathy Kirk and husband Richard, Lewis Ross Jr., Mervin Ross, Susan Meehan and husband Jerry, and Donna Snyder, all of Terre Haute; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Bill Daugherty of West Terre Haute; special friends, Marva Ball, Tim Eddy, and Dave Thomas all of Terre Haute, and several nieces and nephews.
Lora was a special lady. She raised nine children. She loved to spend time with her family and especially enjoyed doting on her grandchildren. She was an avid country music fan. She liked to watch professional wrestling. Lora had a sweet tooth and enjoyed cakes, pies, and Reeses. She was a member of the Fountain of Life Church.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 14 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, at the funeral home, with Pastor Guy Lipkins officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
