An only child, Karen rarely heard the word “No!” She attended Cruft Elementary, Sarah Scott Jr. High School, and Wiley High School. She graduated in 1962. Upon graduation, Karen attended IBM School where she learned everything necessary to work with punch cards and data entry. Ultimately, Karen found herself employed at ISU where she retired after 29 years. Karen had a fondness for her dogs and Olive Garden. If you looked in the dictionary, her picture could be found as the definition of spit-fire.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Penny Burley and husband Bill; granddaughter, Shelby Vermillion and Dee Dunlap; great-granddaughter, Zuri Renee’ Dunlap; an aunt, an uncle, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two uncles, a dog, a few birds, 2 hamsters, and all of her previous husbands.
