George Earl Murphy

George Murphy, 97, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Union Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1924 in Terre Haute, the youngest son of George R. and Mildred Murphy.
He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute and was employed at Thompson-Simon Printing Company for 26 years. In July 1977, George and his wife, Pat, moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida to manage Chateau By The Sea Condominiums. In March of 1988, they retired and relocated back to Terre Haute.
George was active in sports, coaching one son through Little League Baseball and later coached the Wayne Newton American Legion Post 346 baseball team, winning state championships and participating in the National Regionals.
George was preceded in death by his wife Helen "Pat" Murphy; and three brothers, Russell, James, and William.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald Murphy of Terre Haute and Rick Murphy and wife Cindy of Montezuma; step-son, Ralph Lee and wife Bonnie of Madison, Indiana; step-daughter, Latona Lee of Terre Haute; twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Per his wishes, George was cremated and no public services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held by his family.
