Arthur Lester Plummer Jr., 89, passed away September 7, 2019 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 4, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to Arthur Lester Plummer Sr. and Vivian Plummer Kirk.
When he was two years old, he was mistaken for the Lindbergh Baby. He was raised by his grandparents, Frank and Shella Sanders in Burnett. He attended and graduated Fontanet High School where he met and married the love of his life, Gertrude “Marie” Hicks. Arthur served his country in the Navy. He worked at Wabash Fibre Box for 40 years and was a member of the American Legion post 346 and the Terre Haute Eagles Aerie 291.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Jerry Kirk; his granddaughter, Heather Plummer; and his sister, June Ann Geddie.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gertrude “Marie” Plummer; his son, Lester (Roxie) Plummer of Brazil, IN; a daughter, Diana Russell of Rosedale, IN; six grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Plummer, Brad Plummer, Jeffrey (Erica) Raley, Nicholas Raley, Emily (Jon) Mann, and Clint (Linzy) Raley; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; his sister, Frances Lee (Dave) Douglas; his brothers, Patrick (Cheryl) Kirk and Jerry R. Kirk.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Roselawn Funeral Home from 5:00pm-8:00pm. The funeral service will be Friday, September 13, 2019 at Roselawn Funeral Home at 11:00am with Pastor Ansil Harpold officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
