Amelia P. Smith, 59, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Union Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 18, 1954, in Dry Fork, Virginia, to Roy G. and Rose L. (Woods) Price. She married Emanuel W. Smith on April 11, 1979, and together they raised two children. Amelia worked for First Financial Bank as an Assistant Vice President and Banking Center Manager for many years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, and exercising in her spare time. Her faith was important to her, and she always made sure to attend services at her home church, Mt. Tatum Primitive Baptist Church in Dry Fork, VA whenever she went home to visit family. Amelia’s family was the most important part of her life. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, excellent mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and daughter. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by everyone who had the joy to know her.
Amelia is survived by the love of her life and husband of 34 years, Emanuel; her daughter, Stacia A. Phillips and her husband Marc; her son, Patrick W. Smith all of Terre Haute; her grandchildren, Amaya, Brodric, and Alina Phillips, all of Terre Haute; her mother, Rose L. Price of Dry Fork, VA; her siblings, Donnie J. Price of Danville, VA, Roy D. Price of Dry Fork, VA, and Evangeline P. Brown and her husband John of New Kent, VA; her close nieces and nephews, Tonya Collier of Indianapolis, Temple Cousser of AL, Ko Wills of CA, Tanika Yarbrough, Christopher Smith, Christina Davis, Latoya Brown, and Brandon Foster, all of VA; and many other nieces, nephews.
She was greeted in Heaven by her father, Roy.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 25 at Roselawn Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 26. A funeral ceremony will take place at noon on Saturday, as well, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
