Services for Thomas Benjamin (Benny) Gwinn, 91, of Temple will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Mike Gentry officiating. Visitation will follow after the service.
Mr. Gwinn died Friday, March 10 at Mercy House in Temple.
Benny was born November 10, 1931 in Roaring Springs, Texas to Walter Thomas and Mary Anderson Gwinn. He graduated from Roaring Springs High School in 1950. Benny served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Maxine Hook on September 15, 1956. He worked as a field supervisor for Amoco Production Company for 32 years. After retirement, he and Maxine moved to Nacogdoches, Texas where Benny pursued his interest in golf and ranching. They moved to Temple in 2013. He was a member of Leon Valley Church of Christ.
Benny was preceded in death by his siblings, Lillie Crouch, Mabel Lynch, Charles (Chig) Gwinn, Bonnie Fullingim and Josie Raetz.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, and children, Terri Neman and husband David of Temple and Jody Gwinn and wife Carla of Houston; his grandchildren, Jenna and Spencer Neman of Temple, Kaylee Chambers and husband Stephen of Lufkin, Brent Gwinn and wife Samantha of Lake Dallas and Kinsey Gwinn of Austin. Great-grandchildren (triplets), Barrett, Cooper, and Scottie Chambers of Lufkin. Sisters Aly Gwinn of Lubbock, Marilyn Holcomb of Lubbock, brothers George Gwinn of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and James Gwinn of Matador, Texas.
