A visitation for Sherrye will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, TX. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, TX. Burial will follow at McDowell Cemetery, Belton, TX.
Mom was born to Lonnie Skaggs and Areabel "Ann" Burleson in San Diego, California .
Mom went on to finish school with getting her GED from Belton high School and getting her associates in nursing for LVN. That was her career job along with taking care of her loved ones. She was part of the Masons-Star ladies group out of Galena, Kansas and she was a secretary for a long time for the AKC and UKC coon hunt clubs with her previous deceased husband, Joseph Wilson. She was a Christian through and through and a member at the river of life church for about last 3 years. She was a voice to all those who she loved and came across in her path. During her childhood she was part of the 4-H club and girl scouts, she also was in spelling bee contest that she was a champion of in the 9th grade. She loved traveling, fishing, being at the beach, watching her Golden girls, she liked playing pool, camping, mudding, cruising around listening and singing to Elvis Presley songs along with watching his movies, She enjoyed going on cruises that had beautiful blue water with white sand and going to casinos to pass time and heavily enjoyed drinking her absolute sonic Coca-Cola.
Mom was a strong-willed woman with a huge heart that loved all and would do anything for anyone and give the shirt off of her back for you.
She has helped many many through hard times. Fun times and crazy times. She enjoyed her time being with Ernest Turner who was her companion and held a love in her heart for him.He kept her laughing and on her toes. They would enjoy spending time together, eating out, dancing, camping, fishing, road tripping, sitting on the front porch and even watching Elvis movies together.
She is preceded in death by her parents, step parents and brother Michael Drake.
She had two husbands, preceded in death was Clennon Guy Watts, passing in 2018 who was the father of her children and Joseph Wayne Wilson, passing in 2020 who helped raise her children as his own.
She is survived by her son Lonnie Watts and wife Kathy of Trinity, daughter Susan Cehand of Belton, daughter Sherry Wilson and husband Timothy, son Johnny Watts and wife Candi, daughter Stacy Holcomb and husband Marty, son Gator Watts, and raised 2 grandchildren Loni Ann Watts and Johnathan Watts.
She had 28 amazing grandchildren and 24 wonderful great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters Kathy Wilson and husband Quat, Debbie Hitt and husband Randy, Sabrina Skaggs, Cathy Skaggs and her brother Tommey Drake and wife Debby, and Michael Botello, along with many nieces, nephews and greats.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Garrett Watts, Chance Wilson, Johnathan Watts, Brady Holcomb, Tristan Watts and Carter Holcomb.
