Robert S. Bowers, age 89 of Temple, died Thursday, October 29, 2020, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 5th at Meadow Oaks Baptist Church with Rev. Lillian Hinds officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 PM Wednesday, November 4th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Mr. Bowers was born in Mason, TX to Lindsey R. and Reba E. Bowers on October 2, 1931. Married Jeral Dean Hyman on July 19, 1952. He served in U. S. Army during the Korean War.
They moved to Kempner in 1954 and lived there for 50 years. He was employed by Civil Service at Fort Hood for 30 years during which time he also was ranching. After retirement he was self-employed for 13 years in HAVC business. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kempner during those years. In 2005, they moved to Temple and became members of Meadow Oaks Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeral Dean Bowers, daughter, Paula Maxwell and husband, Paul, two granddaughters, Kathy Maxwell and Mandy Dubroff and one great-grandson, Max.
