Memorial Service for James (Jim) Avery Rhinehart, 67, of Temple, will be 3:00 PM Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Oak Park United Methodist Church, 5505 S. 31st St. in Temple. Inurnment will be scheduled at a later date at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Jim was born November 23, 1949 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Ralph Lee and Evelyn Laura Bowers Rhinehart. After the death of his mother in childbirth he was raised by his late uncle, Austin Riddell, and aunt, Dorothy Bowers. He was raised and attended schools in Ooltewah, graduating high school in 1967. He served in the US Army as a Sergeant First Class and retired after 22 honorable and faithful years. Jim met and married the love of his life, Rosanna Wood, on June 10, 1978, in Colorado Springs, CO.
After his military career, Jim worked as a security guard and then later as a dispatcher and delivery driver for a lumber company. Jim’s favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. He and Rosanna moved to Temple, from Colorado, in 2016 to enjoy a more mild climate.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rosanna Rhinehart; sons, Dennis, Terry and Gregory Rhinehart; brother, Ronald Rhinehart; sisters, Patricia Williamson, Linda Jameson, Doris Dantes, Karen Wood, and Sharon Ramsamy; grandchildren, Hayley, Louis, Emma, Grace, Oliver, Arlo; and great grandchildren, Bella and Braxton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of the arrangements.
