Funeral services for James G. Conley, Sr., 85, of Whitehall will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday Dec. 2, 2023 at Temple Christian Center with Rev. Keri Sharp and Tim Foster officiating. Burial will be in North Belton Cemetery.
Mr. Conley died Sunday in a Temple hospital.
Mr. Conley was born August 29, 1938 in San Antonio to Walter Granville Conley and Olga Martha Gotthardt Conley. He served in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Temple in 1964. He married Claudia Waters December 8, 1962. She preceded him in death in 2014. He worked for the Temple Police Department and then worked for the Temple Fire Department after which he became the Temple Fire Marshal. He also drove trucks for Merritt and McLane.
Mr. Conley was preceded in death by one son Terry Conley and two daughters Carolyn Ann Conley and Paula Jones.
Survivors include three sons James Conley, Jr. and his wife Jean of Waco, Walter Conley and his wife Cynthia of Whitehall and Johnny Conley of Killeen; one sister Margaret Hall of Conway, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
