Howard William Brading, 87 of Temple, passed away May 23, 2013 at a local hospital. A visitation has been scheduled for Monday, May 27, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services are set for Tuesday, May 28, at 10:00 am in Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Howard was born December 28, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri to Roy William and Elinor Phoebe (Mapes) Brading. His boyhood was filled with fun with his twin sisters, Margaret and Marjorie. He was interested in model trains, bikes, airplanes, and anything mechanical. At age 10 he went to work for Willie Sheehan at his bike shop in order to help his mother. At 18, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served his time in Bermuda during WWII. He was also stationed at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland during the Korean War.
As a graduate of OU, he moved to Temple in 1960 and worked at the V.A. as an occupational therapist for 25 years. Howard married Charline Rose Rader on June 18,1954 in Ardmore, OK. They celebrated 52 years of marriage. She preceded him in death April 14, 2007. His sister, Marjorie Ruffin, preceded him in death in March of 2002. He married Charlene Easley July 13, 2009. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2011. Howard was a member with Immanuel Lutheran for over 50 years and later became a member of Ave. T Church of Christ in 2008.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Galloway of Independence, Missouri; his daughter, Mary Hendryx and husband Kevin;daughter Beverly Stonestreet and husband Jim, son Charles Brading and wife Deanna Liarakos; grandchildren John, David, and Robert Brading, Frank, Alice Boroughs and husband Joseph, and Rachel Stonestreet; and great-grandchildren John Jr., Grace, Ethan, Mason, Tyler, Mackenzie, and Lazarus Brading, and Cyrus and Elias Boroughs.
He was known for his smile and story-telling and was well loved by all that knew him.
