Don Gidden, age 82, of Temple died Thursday, March 8, 2012 in a assisted living center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 22, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Robbins officiating. Burial was private at Bellwood Memorial Park. Mr. Gidden was born on January 26, 1930 in Jewett, Texas to Donald and Elma Gidden. He graduated from Temple High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of New Mexico. He married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Anderson and had two children, Bonnie and Barry. After his wife's passing in 2005 he married Camilla Bare. Don's many accomplishments include owner and founder of Gidden Distributing, Eagle Scout, President of Temple Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Planning and Zoning Board, Board of Directors of C.A.C., member of the Board of Wildflower Country Club, Board of Regents of University of Central Texas, V.P. of Central Texas A.U.S.A. Board of Temple National Bank, Board of First State Bank of Central Texas, Temple Industrial Foundation, Airport Board, Corporal in Army Reserve, President of Malt Beverage Association, Tejas Vaqueros and member of Temple Rotary Club since 1964. While being involved in the community, he continued to be a wonderful friend, father, husband and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Camilla Gidden, one daughter, Bonnie Kent and husband, Marty Kent, one son, Barry Gidden and wife, Patti Kleypas Gidden, two grandchildren, Remington and Snowden Kent and two step grandchlldren, Cason and Landon Kleypas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 773, Temple, TX 76503.
