John William Madeira, of Tampa, Florida, passed away Feb. 7, 2023. He was born on July 3, 1944 and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. John graduated from Reading High School and went on to receive high honors from Rutgers University in 1976 with a B.S. in Management. Subsequently, he earned his MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1978.
John moved to Tampa, Florida from Reading ,Pennsylvania seven years ago. Prior to that he lived in Arizona, New Mexico, Belize, Pennsylvania, Texas, New Jersey and South Carolina.
John started his career in operations. From the late 1960’s to the mid 1980’s he was promoted several times with increasing responsibility for multiple companies in various industries…providing him with deep experience in chemical, pharmaceutical and consumer product manufacturing. In the mid 1980’s while working as a Director of Operations for a division of Occidental Petroleum, in Dallas, Texas, he became fascinated with the way technology could transform operations, companies and even entire industries. He subsequently pivoted into technology and became Director of Information Systems for Roussel which would eventually become Sanofi.
In 1989, he co-founded Integrity Data, Inc. and served as President and CEO until 2003 when the company merged with WorldNet Technology where he served as Chief Technology Officer. In 2005, his company again merged with Core BTS, and he served as a Managing Director until 2006. After retiring in 2006, he consulted part time with different companies and became fascinated with mobile technology, automation, artificial intelligence, social media platforms and how small business entrepreneurs could drive innovation as well as create value. At one point he had more than 300,000 followers on Twitter. He still has more than 100,000 followers even though he wasn’t active on Twitter over the past 10 years.
John enjoyed running and was an avid reader all his life. He was known to fish from time to time. He loved watching his grandsons participate in sports.
He was predeceased by his mother Marjorie Briner Madeira; his father William “Billy” Madeira and his Uncle John Briner.
He is survived by his longtime partner Carol Clark Madeira (Mastrull) of Tampa, Florida, who he met in 2nd grade and was married to for 15 years. The couple reunited 7 years ago. He is also survived by their son Michel Clark Madeira and his wife Estha Madeira who live in San Diego, California. He leaves behind his older brother Michael Madeira and his wife Donna Madeira, his younger brother Robert Madeira, his two grandsons, Seth William Madeira and Cade Hansen Madeira as well as his nephew Will Madeira and his wife Carina.
