Doris Marie Rimbey, 91, of Temple Terrace entered the Church Triumphant on February 6, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Donald Rimbey. Above all, she loved her family. She will be greatly missed by her seven children, Sandra Alpaugh, Brad Rimbey, Scott Rimbey (Irena), Terry Lemke, Val Barnett (Jerry), Grant Rimbey (Susan) and Jodi Vizzi (Joseph); her ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Doris was born in Hinsdale, Illinois on April 15, 1929. She was the only child of Everett Rusch and Lucy Bernecker Rusch. Doris was very proud of her German heritage. The Ruschs immigrated to the United States from a little town east of Berlin. While living in Hinsdale, she met and married Don. They moved the family to Temple Terrace in 1967 when Don joined the faculty at the University of South Florida. Doris kept herself very busy with the children and grandchildren– homeroom mom, scout leader, chauffeur to activities, cheerleader at all their sporting events and she was proud to attend all the various graduation ceremonies. She loved music and was a member of the Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church choir for many years. Doris and Don enjoyed early morning golf games at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. Her activities in the community included the Temple Terrace Woman’s Club, Temple Terrace Friendship Club, Temple Terrace Preservation Society and University Woman’s Club. Doris was proud of her large family and cherished the family gatherings. After the children had grown, she and Don enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family and spending time at their home in North Carolina. They attended over 100 Elderhostel programs all over the world, learning about the culture of each area. Doris lived a full life with a good sense of humor and a generous spirit. She will join Don, a WW2 combat veteran, in interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.blountcurryterraceoaks.com.
