Robert Graham (Bob) Campbell, age 70, of Knoxville, TN., passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center peacefully with his family by his side. He was an active member of Norwood Baptist Church where he served as teacher, Treasurer and Deacon. He also served as Treasurer of Knox County Baptist Association as well as a member of the TBC State Executive Board. He was a graduate of Claiborne County High School, Tennessee Tech University with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1963. He began his career with TDOT in 1963 and served as Regional Location Engineer for over 12 years. During that time he received his MS in Civil Engineering at UTK in 1980. He founded Robert G. Campbell and Associates. He served as Chairman of the TN. State A & E Board; President of ACEC and various other leadership positions. He was active in the Halls community, serving as youth sports team coach and in 1983 received the Halls Man of the Year Award. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ethel Campbell of Lone Mountain, TN. and three brothers, Ben, Swan and Bill Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane Fugate Campbell; children, Robert (Joan) Campbell, Carolyn Campbell (Michael) Karnes, Paula Jane Campbell all of Knoxville, TN.; delight of his life grandchildren, Elizabeth and Harrison Campbell, Bethany and Campbell Karnes; brother, Dan (Judy) Campbell of New Tazewell, TN.; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Tony and Stephanie Brooks, CPU staff at Mercy Medical Center; special friends, Lois Harbin and family. Family will receive friends from 3PM-7PM Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Norwood Baptist Church, 1725 Wilson Rd., Knoxville, TN. Funeral service will be held at 7:30PM, March 28, 2010 at the Norwood Baptist Church with Dr. Walter Taylor, Rev. Fred Wade and Rev. George Williams officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Lynnhurst-Berry Cemetery in Knoxville, TN officiated by Rev. John Holland. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Humphrey, Dennis Johnson, Earl Campbell, Charles Fielden, JImmy Campbelll and Randy Harbin; Honorary pallbearers will be the dedicated employees of RGCA and the Deacons of Norwood Baptist Church.
