Mary V. Labaj, age 97, passed away Tuesday October 27, 2015 in Granger, TX. Mary was born to Jim Martinets and Josie Kubala Martinets in March of 1918. She was a lifelong resident of Granger and on July 18, 1945 she married the love of her life Emmitt Labaj. Mary was deeply religious and very active in the community. She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, belonged to the St. Flora Altar Society, where she was Treasurer since 1960; was a member of the KJZT Lodge #18, a member of the Granger Business Women’s Club, a Jolly Timer, part of the American Legion Auxiliary, Supporter of the local Catholic School, a Eucharistic Minister for 13 years, and sang in the church choir for over 70 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Emmitt Labaj. She is survived by her nephews, James and wife Cheryl Drozd and Bill Drozd, and her niece, Pat and husband Elroy Neu. Also, niece Geradine (Jeri) Labaj Frank and husband Richard, Dorthy Daniel and husband Bill, Lorene Beatty, Darwin Labaj and wife Alice Labaj, Marvin Labaj and Johnny Ann Labaj, Raymond Blaha and wife Betty, Henry Allen Labaj, and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6pm-8pm at Condra Funeral on Thursday October 29, 2015 with a Rosary at 7pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday October 30, 2015 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church. Burial will follow at Granger Brethren Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, the American Legion, or the charity of your choice.
