Born in Miami, FL, on June 28, 1964, Bill was the second oldest of 5 siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lynne Ellen Barkett, and older brother, Harry J. Barkett, Jr. Survivors include his beloved son, Kyle; father Harry J. Barkett, Sr. (Carmen); brother Michael; sisters, Michelle and Cathy; nieces, Ashley and Zoey; and nephews, Johnny and Avery. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Bill was an extremely hard worker with an impeccable work ethic. His colleagues could always look to him for support. He was a graduate of Admiral Farragut Academy, class of 1983. Known as “Mr. Bill,” he possessed athletic honors in varsity basketball and self-proclaimed to enjoy hobbies such as flirting, skiing, boating, cars, and rock music. Although he worked in many of the Barkett family businesses, now known as AOCUSA (Amalie Oil Company), since he was a kid, he began working full-time after he completed school. He worked in gas stations, hydroponics, aquaponics, mailbox manufacturing, helicopter air condition manufacturing, waste oil recycling, and finally blending and packaging automotive and industrial lubricants. From Miami, he would go on to move to Tampa and later to California in 1999. His passion and dedication to his work led him to his most recent position as Vice President of West Coast Operations, overseeing 5 facilities in the Los Angeles, California area and 1 facility in Silver Springs, Nevada.
Bill’s greatest gift was positively impacting the lives of the many people who knew him. He was the greatest dad of all time and a very loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, mentor and much more. His son, Kyle, was his pride and joy, and he lit up every time he spoke about him. Bill absolutely adored his family and loved every minute he spent with them. He loved joking around and reminiscing about good times. He was always there for anyone who needed him and gave the best advice. He went above and beyond to take care of those he loved. Bill was such an amazing, genuine, smart, caring, strong, funny, loyal, and special person, who will be deeply missed by all. His legacy continues to live on through the many lives he touched. He will be cherished forever.
A visitation for Bill will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a 1:00 pm Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Ted Fielland at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at MacDill Chapel, 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609. A committal service will occur at 3:00 pm at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. After the committal service, all are welcome to join the family for a reception at the residence of Harry and Carmen Barkett, 1801 Bayshore Blvd, Tampa, FL 33606.
