Stan was my neighbor for years, and he was like a 2nd father to me. I was good friends with his son Mark for over 20 years. Stan was the first person who taught me how to workout, and he gave me discounted memberships to his gym. I still follow all the basics he taught me when I was 12 years old to this day. He always took time to give me nutrition tips and critiqued me on my lifting techniques till I got it right. Most people remember him for his great physical condition but his mind was more powerful than his muscles. He will always be one of my heroes. My heart and condolences go out to his wife and family. 

I will certainly be attending the memorial service for Stan.  I now live in Live Oak, but feel compelled to pay my respects to his family and many wonderful memories of my years spent with Stan. Kevin Philpott 

I was reading about old school gyms and Googled Stan"s Gym, Temple Terrace. That's what brought me here. Stanley Morey was a huge, positive influence on my life. The principles he taught me I practiced daily since the late 1980's. I'm sorry to hear he passed. I hope his family knows he touched many lives. I went on to become a teacher and passed his principles along. RIP Stan.

In the late sixties, Mr Morey taught at King High School. He was an excellent teacher. He was approachable. He wanted us to learn. I don't know why I picked today to do an internet search for people from the past. I am happy to honor him. Condolences to his family. I know they wish he were still here.

Stan was a very interesting and unique mentor for so many athletes, including myself.  I worked for Stan at his gym in the early 1980s and have many fond memories of him and his loyal followers.
Gary was always there for Stan, as his devoted wife and mother of their children.  
I am saddened to learn of his passing.  I will always have fond memories of Stan and his family.



I've known Stan since he opened the original Naturite Gym.  He was a great mentor and helped me achieve my bodybuilding goals.  In later years,  I enjoyed his visits where we discussed the "good ole days".
He will be truly missed.

I first met Stan Morey when I won the Mr. Southeast USA which he promoted.  Needless to say he was not the typical gym owner/promoter/bodybuilder and author.  As I got to know Stan over the years, the fact that we both had PhDs meant we had much more in common than bodybuilding.  We started sharing views about all sorts of topics finding common ground on many areas of life.  I’m going to miss the emails, texts, and Facebook messages from my friend.  I count myself lucky that I had the time with Stan that I did.

So sorry to hear of Stan's passing. If there was a foundation stone of the Iron Game in Florida, that would have been Stan, for a very long time. He put Tampa Bay, and alot of considerable talent, on the bodybuilding map in what was indeed a Golden Age of bodybuilding, including promoting the 1983 AAU Mr. & Miss America at USF's SunDome, as well as AAU Mr. Florida and AAU Mr. All South contests, not to mention owning Stan's Gym in Temple Terrace. Those times and Stan's like will never be seen again, and there are many who owe a massive debt of gratitude to him. The Lord bless and keep him.
