Tony passed away September 14, 2018 after a short but brave fight with cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Middletown Ohio and moved to Tampa in the mid 70’s where he grew up. At an early age he began his lifelong passion with motorcycles. He rode them, fixed them, he even built some. He had a lifelong brotherhood of fellow riders whom he loved dearly. He had a great sense of humor, and would do anything to help people. He took great pride in his work at St Pete Fire Protection and looked forward to going to work every day. But most of all Tony loved his family and his many friends. Weekends were spent boating, fishing and 4 wheeling with his son David and their friends. Tony loved many things but most of all he loved life itself.
Tony is survived by Lori Lynne, his loving wife of over 20 years, a daughter, Danielle and a son, David Childers. He was predeceased by his parents David Lee and LaVon Kay Childers.
He is also survived by his beloved sister Pam (Dan) and brother Wayne (Melanie). Sisters Amber (Michael), Tina (Mickey), and Anna (Curt). Special niece Krysta, Kristine, Angie and Katie. Nephews Conrad, Kevin, David and Jack.
A tribute to celebrate Tony’s life will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Homes, 6802 Silvermill Drive, Tampa 33635 on Saturday, September 22, 2018 to begin at 11:30 am. A reception will follow at the home of longtime friend Keith Rodgers.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a memorial fund to be set up for Tony’s son and best friend David. Envelopes will be provided at both Blount & Curry and at the reception. Donations can also be made on GoFundMe/David and Lori Childers.
David was his whole world and there could be no greater tribute paid to Tony than to secure his son’s future.
