He graduated from Olmsted Falls High School. He received Associate degrees in Nursing and Computer Project Management from Hillsborough Community College. He was a Registered Nurse and provided clinical nursing care before moving into health information management. He was creative in his field and envisioned on-line medical record keeping before it became a reality. He was a valued member of the Moffitt Cancer Center Health Information Management team for almost five years.
Rolf was very proud of his German heritage and his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a lover of heavy metal music, muscle cars, and old movies and TV shows. But the past two and one-half years were devoted to his son, Henry. He was most often on the floor, playing with cars, wrestling, and reading books with Henry. He loved reliving his childhood fascination with toy cars.
Rolf married Sulei Zhang, a physician and researcher in China, on December 12, 2015. They shared their special moments of reading, going to the zoo, and any activity that would bring smiles to Henry. Rolf was particularly solicitous of his mother, Christina, including her in all family activities. He regularly and lovingly brought her flowers.
He is survived by his wife Sulei Zhang, son Henry, mother Christina Swanson, sister Heidi Hartwig (Tony Paggio), niece Amanda Paggio, nephew Gabriel Paggio, great-nieces Mackenzie and Meadow Plemmons, loving aunts and uncles from Erie, Pennsylvania, Newport Beach, California, and Jacksonville, Florida.
