Rodger Allen Hazen, 82 years old of Wesley Chapel loving was accepted into the arms of his savoir Jesus Christ on March 25, 2014. He was born March 30, 1931. He grew up in Erie Pennsylvania and attended Edinboro College where he received his degree in Education. He taught at Brocton Central School in New York for over 30 years. His hobbies were golf, caring for his beloved dogs, his aquarium and church. He will be greatly missed by his children Rodger Allen Hazen II who lives in Westfield New York, Betsy Jean Hazen Allen who lives in Phoenix Arizona, Holly Ann Hazen Bennett who lives in Lutz Florida, Darcie B Hazen residing in Perrysburg New York and 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He leaves behind his brother Charles Hazen and his sister Christine Hazen Scholtz. Rodger was preceding in death by his father Clair Hazen and his mother Stella Osborn Hazen who lived in Lawrence Park Pennsylvania. Rodger was once the president of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Association in New York State when he owned The Village Motel in Fredonia New York. His favorite song was “Take Five” by Dave Brubeck because he loved jazz and a good drum spot. His long battle with having cancer four times is finally over. He is now in Beulah land where he was greeted by love ones and the animals that passed before him have been waiting. “O Beulah land, sweet Beulah land! As on thy highest mount I stand, I look away across the sea, Where mansions are prepared for me, And view the shining glory shore, My heaven, my home forever more.”
A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 6 to 7PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home with memorial services beginning at 7PM. In lieu of sending flowers the family request that you please make donations to Hospice.
