Survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Frances Stone (Grob); four children, Scott T. Stone of Richfield, MN, Leanne S. Murray (Jim), John A. Stone of Tampa, FL and Christopher R. Stone (Charlotte); and 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Robert (Buzz) served in the United States Army Communications Corps and was at Eniwetok Atoll during the first atomic bomb test (operation Ivy Mike) in 1952.
He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1959 with a B.S. in Accounting, and later received his Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was the first college graduate in his family. He was supported in college by help from his Sister Shirley and by working in the summertime.
His lifelong friends were Ed Ivey and Clyde Putnam, his cousin.
Born in Urbana, IL in 1933, a graduate of Unity High School (Salutatorian) class of 1952.
He lived for a time in Urbana IL, Champaign, IL, Fort Wayne, IN, Wolcottville, IN, Greenville, TX and Tampa, FL.
He was preceded by his siblings, Jack Stone, Shirley Stone (Kruse), George (Bud) H. Stone, Harold Stone, and his parents George and Elizabeth Stone, all of Champaign/Urbana Illinois. He has family in and around Bloomingdale Michigan.
After military service he married, and completing school he worked as a Certified Public Accountant, Controller and Special Counsel during his career.
