Dick was born in Rochester, NY to Louise E. Wedi & James A. Lewis on March 27, 1945. He attended Robinson HS c/o 1965 in Tampa. He married Sharon Roberts on July 23, 1964 at Manhattan Methodist Church in Tampa and was married for 26 years. He then married Cathy Sampurdanis on December 9, 1990 in Tampa and was married for 30 years. He worked as a construction superintendent for over 40 years in the Tampa Bay area. Dick was known to be a practical joker who loved spending time with his family, collecting coins, old cars, 50/60’s music/dancing, animals, and going to the casino. In his younger years he was part of a doo-wop band with his best friend Mel Dryer and later he ran a teen center and managed a high school 50/60’s band. Dick was always happy, loved helping others, took tremendous pride in every single project he managed and loved to be on the job site.
Dick is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cathy Wilton, his mother, Louise Wedi, his father, James Lewis, his grandmother, Edith Gelsky, his grandchild, Jordan Cardella and his best friend, Mel Dryer.
Dick is survived by his five children, Karen Hutchinson (Dan), Rick Wilton Jr. (Laura), Kelli Rivera (Robert), Kim Wilton and Janie Wilton; his first spouse Sharon Wilton, his brother Donald Wilton (Cheryl); his grandchildren Amber Wilton, Briana Jordan (Bryan), Erica Wilton, Ryan Hutchinson and Kaitlyn Henry, and his great-grandchildren Easton and Brooklyn Jordan.
Funeral services will be held 4:30pm EST on August 7, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home - Carrollwood with Greg Rusch of Grace Community United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be a private service for immediate family.
