Paul Lawrence Morton, 74, passed away peacefully in Tampa, Florida on November 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on February 12, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to William and Reva Morton and he was the youngest of 14 children.
Paul graduated high school in 1967 from Stivers High School in Dayton, Ohio. He played various sports and served as Class President. He attended Blackburn College in Illinois and then enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1969-1971. Years later, Paul went back and finished up the courses to obtain his Bachelor of Arts Degree. Paul had a very long and distinguished career as a Licensed Insurance Agent.
Paul was an avid sportsman and sports fan. He loved to play golf, run marathons, grill, watch sports, and spend time with friends and family telling stories about anything and everything. He loved the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, and of course his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes!
Paul made friends wherever he went and was treasured for his outgoing nature, engaging personality, and razor sharp wit.
Paul is predeceased by his spouses Beverly Morton and Sherrie Morton. Paul is also predeceased by his siblings Ruth, Roscoe, Mary Gladys, JD (Jay), Bobby, Rose, Joanne, Jean, Sandy, and Carol.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Angela Morton, grandson Barrett Armstrong, and his loving companion of over 20 years, Joyce Trigg.
He is also survived by sisters Donna Castle (Kettering, OH) and Juanita Prater (Reading, OH) and brother Russell Morton (Englewood, FL) and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Paul was an amazing Papa and grandfather to Barrett and father to Angela. He was an amazing uncle to his many nieces and nephews and best friend to everyone. He was a longtime member of the Lake Magdalene Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 with the service at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Magdalene Methodist Church located at 2902 West Fletcher Avenue, Tampa, FL 33618 with reception to follow. For those who would like to join, Paul’s final resting place will be at the Florida National Cemetery with military honors at 2:30 p.m.
