Millicent Pollard Painter, loving mother and sister, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2015 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was born during the Great Depression on February 11, 1929 in Chicago, IL, which gave her a unique prospective on life and a grateful heart for all the blessings she received throughout her life. Her Lord, family and friends were the center of her life. She was a retired bookkeeper and an avid Chicago Cubs fan since childhood, when she would listen to games on the radio with her father. She was also a world traveler visiting such places as the Arctic Circle, Tanzania, Africa and Belgium, just to name a few.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ferdinand Pollard; her mother, Amy Swope Pollard; and her daughters, Mary Ann Painter and Suzanne Painter Crews.
She is survived by her sister, Marie Pollard Brown; her son-in-law, Dr. John E. Crews; her children, Louise Painter Albritton (Vinson) of Whittier, NC, Ralph D. Painter, Jr. (Genevieve) of Brandon, FL, John F. Painter (Donna) of Oviedo, FL, Martha Painter of Seffner, FL, and James E. Painter (Beth) of Tampa, FL; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends 10-11 am on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa with funeral service to follow immediately at 11 am.
