Born in Bronx, New York on April 21, 1959, to Michael and Mildred Kenny. He was one of four siblings.
Mike attended St. Francis Xavier School from kindergarten through eighth grade. From there, he attended Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, where he received his high school diploma. Shortly after graduation, Mike joined the Brick Layer's union in New York and worked on caulking windows on high rise buildings in New York City for several years.
Mike and Barbara met at the age of 17. In their early 20's, they decided to start a new life and moved to Tampa, FL in October 1981. From a young age, Mike knew he wanted to serve his country to help those in need. Together, they got married on July 1, 1984, and a few years later, Mike pursued his vision and was hired by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue in 1986. During the late 80's, Mike attended the Florida State Fire College where he received his Fire Science degree. After 31 years of service, Mike retired in May 2016.
Mike was a true leader, ambitious he was, caring for those in need, jack of all trades, but mostly a very SELFLESS individual. Mike later in his career became a member of the Masonic Lodge and joined the Shriner's organization. Mike also received the highest honor in the Boy Scouts, Eagle Scout. He enjoyed raising his family, boating, jet skiing, camping, collecting guns and vintage vehicles, and working on all sorts of projects. Mike was not a contemporary soul but enjoyed more of a traditional lifestyle.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Lauren Toft; predeceased daughter, Danielle Kenny; brother, Richard; sisters, Lynn, Donna; aunts, Barbara, Maureen.
