He was born April 10, 1961 in Buffalo, NY. He attended Seneca Vocational High School. After high school he moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked for the City of Hope and attended college. Michael was married 36 years to his beloved wife Virginia. They had two children, Michael Vincent Florence Jr and Ashlee Nicole Howard who were the light of his life.
He was one of nine children born to the late O.D. Florence and Obadiah N. Florence. Michael will forever be remembered and missed dearly by his wife Virginia Wells Florence, two children Michael Vincent Florence Jr (Asha) and Ashlee N Howard, two grand daughters Arianna Moore and Lyric V. Florence, five sisters Doris J Aiken of Columbus, Ohio, Belinda Parker of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Ginny Flenoy of Playa Del Ray, California, Mary E Jahada (George) of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Gail Florence of Long Beach, California, brother Otis Florence (Deborah) of Tampa, Florida as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister Glenda A Curry, nephew Benjamin M Wilson, and his beloved brother Vincent A Florence.
After a long career in the communications field, he left Verizon in 2016. While working for Verizon he had the privilege of helping set up communication lines at the Sarasota airport for President Bush in which he received a certificate of appreciation from the White House Secretary. Michael loved his job and always gave 100% of himself to help his customers. Michael was a strong-willed man who loved his family very much. He was very giving and willing to help others in need without question. He was well liked by anyone who got to know him. Michael was well versed in geography and liked to observe the stars/planets with his telescope. He also had great love for music.
