I worked with Melissa when she was a library page at the Rockaway Township Library.  She was a lovely young 
woman with a beautiful smile. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Melissa, you were terrific to work with. You always told the Soldier story very well. You will be remembered.

Melissa, when I was broken from Matt being deployed, you completed me. You were my Army wife. I mourn the loss of the great times we had together and the void left in all your family and friends' lives. You lived a life full of excitement, wit, and fabulousness. I'm grateful I got to be a small part of it. I will miss you terribly. All our love to Tim, your parents, and pups.

You were always witty, often profound, frequently profane and one of the warmest, funniest, most authentically awesome people I've ever known. When you and Tim were together, it was always so clear you were in love and were loved, so very much. I think you always knew none of us is promised tomorrow, and lived your life to it's fullest every moment of every day. I admired that so much. I still do. You are missed.

I didn't meet Melissa in person, but I'm an Army veteran that has worked with her on 2 stories for the NW Military newspapers this year. She was so kind and so helpful to me, and I enjoyed talking to her very much. My sincere condolences from my heart, go to her family and friends and everyone.  I'm so sad to hear this, God bless you and your family.

I knew Melissa in High School and had many of fun days together.  My heart aches for the family and friends of Melissa.  Even though we haven't seen eachother since graduation, I often thought of you and the crazy things we used to do.  Hanging out and driving around.  We had some really great times.  You will be missed by all.  Fly high sweet angel.  My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone.

Melissa, I have so many childhood memories of you.   You were practically in every class with me, K-6 at Birchwood Elementary School!  You were one of my favorite friends!  Sleepovers, birthday parties, carpools, dance class, recess... we did it all together!  You were popular, funny, and I was always trying to keep up with you!  I remember when your dad was running for Mayor, and in a carpool one day, you told us to "Barf at a [David] Gephardt sign", (who was your father's opponent), whenever we drove by a lawn and saw his political sign. So I literally did that for a few months until election time!  I also remember watching my first horror movies at your sleepover in the 4th grade - "House" (silly) and "The Shining" (scary)! I still vividly remember watching these in your living room!  Thank you for the fun memories!  You were an important influence in my life throughout those years! I hope you are in an amazing place now!  Much LOVE to you and your entire family!

My dear sweet Melissa. You knew how to live life, and it's a lesson we all should follow. You touched so many lives with your articles, and your friendship. God gave all of us a gift, and He's called you home. Somehow, the rest of us have to pick up the pieces. You left your footprints all over my heart, and it aches for your dear husband, family and life-long friends. They meant the world to you, and you were a beacon of light to all of us. Peace to you my sweet, dear friend. I will always love you.

I knew Melissa at Loyola and am so saddened to hear of her passing.  She always made me smile and was so much fun to be around.  I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you.

As a fellow journalist, I admired Melissa's writing ability immensely. Her work was always spot on, ultra-professional and a pleasure to read. My condolences and warm wishes to her family and friends.

Melissa was one of a kind. She had endless energy and passion and channeled that into the things she loved -- her husband Tim, her dogs, Lola and Leroy, and her work. She was ebullient - that rare someone who has a true "joie de vivre" and made you happier just by being in the room. I will miss her tremendously.

In 2005, Melissa was the catalyst that started the Home Town Clipper newspaper in DuPont WA. Her enthusiasm toward the community not only made the newspaper successful, but made her community stronger and better because she was part of it. My memories bring nothing but smiles to me. I am so glad she was a part of our lives.

Melissa was a joy to work with. She had passion, enthusiasm and an energy that drove her love of writing. She will be missed for her personality as well as her work ethic. i will miss her sense of humor and her zest. I am SO sorry for your loss.
