Matthew Michael Murphy

Matt was a paraplegic for the last 12+ years after surviving a catastrophic truck accident in 2011. Matt loved to collect coins, go to the shooting range, watch anime and talk about politics. Matt was an animal lover and enjoyed playing with his cats. Matthew was the most giving and caring person.

Matthew was closest to his mom, Linda Cubello, of Tampa, Florida. He was a loving brother to Melissa Murphy (Piotr Maleszewski) of Carmel, NY and Jessica Rizzuti (Adam Rizzuti) of Katonah, NY. Matthew was the best uncle to Owen and Kyle Rizzuti of Katonah, NY. Matt was a loyal nephew to MaryLou and Tom Ferguson of Tampa, FL, Louis Ricci of Mamaroneck, NY and Gabriel and Jodi Ricci of Floral Park, NY. Matthew is survived by his cousins Joshua Ferguson of Lutz, FL and Trace Ferguson of Tampa, FL.

Matthew is predeceased by his grandparents Anthony and Anna Ricci of Mamaroneck, NY.

Matthew was cared for and supported by many people including his nurses throughout the years who he’d want to acknowledge for their love and compassion. Matt will be greatly missed and we are all better for knowing him and having him in our lives.

In both Tampa and New York there will be celebrations in his honor held at a later times.
