Mary Catherine Crosson, of Land O’ Lakes, died Friday, December 18, 2020. Mary was 83 years old and was born on October 3, 1937 in Muncie, Indiana. She moved to Tampa as an infant with her mother Ettawau Bradberry. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Curtis Crosson, her daughter, Debra Schlaughenhoupt (Atlanta, GA), her son, Darril Davidson (Brandon), and her grandson Ryan Davidson (Dunedin). She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather (Harry Branning), and her brother, Lester Branning. She was a student at Hillsborough High School although she and Curtis had known each other since middle school.
Mary and Curtis moved to Land O’ Lakes in 1991 after living for most of her life in Tampa. A woman of strong faith, Mary was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Tampa and First Baptist Church of Land O’ Lakes. Mary was a full-time homemaker and mother to Debra and Darril. She enjoyed travel and had visited numerous states in the US.
Mary also enjoyed crafting but she spent much of her free time as a genealogist, researching her own family tree and that of the Crosson family. Her craft rooms held numerous books and files from her research (although she never quite mastered the internet). She helped to organize the first Crosson family reunions in Thonotosassa and which continue to this day. Mary enjoyed visiting thrift stores and the occasional garage sale.
Services for Mary will be held at Wednesday, 1PM, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories on 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. Interment to follow afterwards at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park with a short service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Gulfside Hospice, 2061 Collier Parkway, Land O' Lakes, FL 34639.
