Martin “TED” Theodore Kay, age 74 passed away Saturday May 13th, 2017. In lieu of flowers he requested that donations be made in his honor to St. Jude’s. You can donate online at www.stjude.org or by mail to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Ted was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where he met and married his soul mate Katherine “Kathy” Kay. In 1993 he moved his family to Tampa, FL. He served in the Air Force for 2 years then worked for Metlife for 26 years. Ted was a great man and meant so much to so many people. He was a father to many which is why he was known as POPS. He is survived by his wife Kathy Kay, three sons Matthew Kay, Joshua Kay and Darin Kay, two daughters Jennifer Kay and Laura Kay, and three beautiful granddaughters who meant the world to him, Sabrina Tribble, Sidney Tribble and Samantha “Sammy” Kay. To celebrate his life a gathering will be held Saturday May 27th, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home. Afterwards family and friends are invited to continue the celebration of his life at the home of his son Matthew Kay. “Be an inspiration to others!!!” He wrote that on a piece of paper a few days before he passed away and what better way to honor him then to live by his words! As Sammy now says Grandpa Angel. We will never forget you. You will live on forever in all our hearts.
