She was born on May 7, 1928 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Earle and Ethel (Rice) Mapes.
Loris married Thomas W Mann August 18, 1948 and celebrated 52 wedding anniversaries before he predeceased her in 2000. Loris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family deeply and was adored by them all.
Her caring nature and optimistic outlook brought joy to all who knew her. Loris lived many places throughout her life and made cherished friends with each move. She was always active in the communities where she lived. She was a member of the League of Women voters, volunteering for many elections and campaigns. She and Tom retired to Helen, Georgia in 1978 where they had an antique shop. Helen did not have a library which Loris remedied. She worked with the state to get funding and grants to build a new building. Once an architect was chosen, she reviewed plans to ensure the building design fit with the alpine theme of the city and had ample space for community meetings and a welcoming children’s area.
Loris loved celebrating holidays and birthdays. She especially loved decorating for and celebrating Christmas. She had a deep fondness for animals; our many dogs, horses and cats had a special place in her heart. Especially her last beloved Corgi, Bentley.
Loris is survived by her daughters, Susan Rampelberg and wife Bronwyne Bruwer, and Catherine Williams. Her granddaughter and her husband, Claire and Tim Porter and her grandson, Cole Williams. Her brother Harland Mapes (Lu) and nephew, Leland Mapes. Her dear friend and nurse Melinda Bynum. As well as many more nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas W Mann, son Thomas W Mann Jr and brothers, Leland and Rodney Mapes. Her remains will be laid to rest in Cassville, Wisconsin next to her husband.
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
