Died peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving family and her faith. Lorie is now reunited with her husband, Harold, and her daughter, Karen. Her daughter Linda (Tom), grandchildren Andy, Sarah, and Dana, aunts, cousins and her many friends are left with her loving memories. Lorie blessed us with her love, colorful stories, her generosity and compassion and her witty sense of humor. During her 85 years, Lorie enjoyed a rich life. After graduating high school, she left Minnesota farm life behind and joined the Army. It is there she met her husband, Hal. She celebrated her Catholic faith her entire life. Her grandfather baptized her and she ensured her family went to church by joining the local Catholic Church with each military move. In later life, Lorie enjoyed volunteering at Tampa General Hospital for 10 years and at St. Patrick School and Church. Lorie was humble and never wanted to bother anyone, even in her last days. Lorie enjoyed life, she was happy. She loved to travel with the Cruisettes and to the Tennessee mountains. You would always find her at Bingo, and she loved to go “North” (code for casino) with her dear friends. Throughout her many illnesses she inspired us with her courage and perseverance. We extend our sincere thanks to Suncoast Hospice (Lavender Team) and to Sister Dolores O’Brien, OSF, for their loving care in Lorie’s final days.
Join us as we celebrate Lorie’s life with a Funeral Mass on Monday, October 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Lorie will be inurned with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760 or to Bon Secours Place, Pastoral Care Department, 10401 Roosevelt Blvd. N, St Petersburg, FL 33716
