Lester was a native Floridian and a veteran, serving his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Lester worked as a Plumber/ Pipe-fitter for many years. In later years, working as a Project Engineer or Job Superintendent. Lester had a successful career and his work allowed him the opportunity to travel the world. Lester belonged to the Local Plumber and Pipe-fitters Union 123, as well as their International Branch Foe 60+ years.
A devout Christian, Lester has been member of the New Testament Worship Center of Grant Park, for 45 years. Lester Burgess was a good man and was devoted to God, family, country and his union brotherhood. Our family will be forever blessed by the example he set and the word he shared. We will love and miss him for the rest of our days.
Lester was pre-deceased by his parents, Mabel and Medard Lizotte and Melbourne Burgess, son Jason McWaters and grandson Arron Michael Helmbrecht. Survivors include: wife, Elva Modeane Burgess, daughter and son-in-law Nelda and Greg Kampff, son and life partner George Burgess and Donna O'Neill, son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Danielle Burgess; grandsons, Wayne Helmbrecht, Landon Burgess, Jared Gill and Coleman Wippel; granddaughters, Bailey Burgess Gill, Mikie Wippel, and Mia Byers, brother and sister-in-law, Meddy and Sabrina Lizotte and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:00pm at New Testament Worship Center of Grant Park, 5107 E. 32nd Avenue,Tampa, FL 33619. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 until service time at 1pm. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
