Lawrence ‘Wayne’ Carter, 82, of Zephyrhills, FL, entered into eternal rest on November 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 19, 1942, in Big Stone Gap, VA, Wayne was known for his deep faith, generous spirit, and dedication to his family, community, and ministry.
Wayne graduated from Zephyrhills High School and went on to study at the University of Florida. On March 11, 1966, he married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Hughey, with whom he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised two children, Mark Wayne Carter, and Kimberly Ann Carter, who were the pride of his life.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his daughter, Kim Anglin; and his cherished grandchild, Chris Anglin. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Dickerson; nephew, Hank (Lauren) Dickerson; brother and sister-in-law, Chet and Carolyn Thatcher; nephew, Glenn Thatcher; nephew Jonathan (Julie) Thatcher; and niece, Allison (James) Granell.
Wanye was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Francis Carter Bohlander, and his son Mark Wayne Carter.
Wayne’s unwavering faith, love for his family, and dedication to his church and community leave a legacy of kindness and grace. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories 4207 E. Lake Ave. Tampa, FL 33610; Viewing at 10am; Funeral at 11am; Graveside service at 12pm, followed by fellowship lunch on site.
